Elliot's Baby Dedication

Angela and I dedicated our son, Elliot, to the Lord on August 27th during a service at our church. Amazingly, Angela's parents, Jim and Sharon, were able to make it out to Chicago to attend the dedication. It was a very special time for us.

Elliot's First Trip to Iowa

Angela and I got to take our son, Elliot, to see his grandma and grandpa and the rest of the family in Iowa. It was great being together. Here are some pictures from the trip.

Baby Elliot Is Here!!!

Our son, Elliot, decided to arrive 5 days before his due date. Apparently we stayed home a little too long because he was born just about 35 minutes after we arrived at the hospital. I dropped off Angela at the emergency room and parked the car in the hospital lot and ran as fast as I could. Nurses were yelling in the hallway urging me on and I finally made it to the room where Angela was waiting to push till I got there. She gave birth in the tub with me and our midwife by her side. Angela and I got to catch Elliot as he entered into the world and I got to cut the umbilical cord. Elliot was born on Saturday, August 5th, at 5:42am at the West Suburban Medical Center, weighing 7lb. 6oz. and 18.5 inches long. He is absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing in our joy!

I Hope (by Henri Nouwen)

I hope that I will always be for each person what he or she needs me to be.

I hope that each person's death will diminish me, but that fear of my own will never diminish my joy of life.

I hope that my love for those whom I like will never lessen my love for those whom I do not.

I hope that another person's love for me will never be a measure of my love for him or her.

I hope that everybody will accept me as I am, but that I never will.

I hope that I will always ask for forgiveness from others, but will never need to be asked for my own . . .

I hope that I will always recognize my limitations, but that I will construct none.

I hope that loving will always be my goal, but that love will never be my idol.

I hope that everyone will always have hope.
